With the summer term coming to an end, school leaders’ thoughts are inevitably starting to turn to the next academic year.
What are our priorities? What resources will we have? How will we deliver for our students? What professional learning do we need?
For all the leaders currently planning for the autumn term, Impact Wales is here to help.
We’ve been delivering professional learning to schools at all levels, across Wales and beyond, for almost a decade.
We offer bespoke, research-informed support tailored to each school’s specific needs and individual context.
We are Curriculum for Wales experts, and everything we do is designed to have an impact on standards in the classroom.
Over the last academic year, we’ve supported a range of schools with their school improvement priorities in a mix of face to face and remote sessions.
Here are some examples of how we’ve made an impact:
Neyland Community School, Milford Haven
Neyland Community School is redeveloping its curriculum with a focus on upskilling staff. We have been supporting staff to develop their expertise as curriculum designers and responsive teachers, including sessions to identify pupils’ needs and to develop a coaching culture across the school.
Ysgol Afon Wen, Pontypridd
Ysgol Afon Wen is an all-through school opening in September. We have been working with the senior leadership team and staff during the setting up process to help them create a curriculum blueprint. We have been supporting their vision for a specific ‘Afon Wen curriculum’ with sessions on curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment.
Cwmbran High School, Cwmbran
We have been working with Cwmbran High School to support their middle leaders to take responsibility for curriculum design and teaching and learning. We have also held sessions with the SLT and middle leaders looking at the science of learning.
Carmarthenshire County Council
It’s not just schools we support – we’ve worked with several local authorities. We supported Carmarthenshire County Council with two headteachers conferences, one focused on pedagogy in Curriculum for Wales and one on assessment and progression.
So, if you are already starting to think about September, and are planning the next steps on your school improvement journey, why not get in touch and see how Impact Wales can support you?
